Breathe
When the adrenaline hits while you are at auditions, everyone tends to move a little faster and think a little bit less. That’s why it is really important to breathe at the critical points in your audition. When I say breathe, I mean a very low, clam breathe that expands your belly while keeping your chest still.
Breathe deeply right when they call your name to enter, so you can walk in centered and focused. After you state your name and title and show of your piece, take a second to breathe low again. Not only will this help you sing better, but it also shows the directors that you are comfortable and confident on stage…and that you know how to acknowledge and deal with your nerves. Good luck out there!
