Located on the Notre Dame de Namur University campus, the Sisters of Notre Dame chapel offers two masses that are openMore to the public each week. The chapel also lends itself to the use of the university, which holds its musical productions and other major events there, including the commencement mass at the end of the school year. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur originated in France in 1804 and came to Cincinnati in 1840 to open the first Notre Dame school in the United States.  They went also to Oregon before arriving in Northern California, to open another school in 1851. The College of Notre Dame was moved from its original California location in San Jose to the Ralston Mansion in Belmont in 1923. Notre Dame High School was developed on the property a few years later.

Tucked into a wooded area off busy Ralston Ave., Notre Dame de Namur University offers a liberal arts, CatholicMore education for both full and part-time students seeking undergraduate or master's degrees. Parts of the campus are shared with Notre Dame Elementary School and Notre Dame High School, including the chapel and Ralston Hall. The university was ranked among the best universities in the West in the U.S. News & World Report's Best College Rankings in 2010.
Notre Dame High School

Notre Dame High School is a private, all-girls Catholic college preparatory school. The high school moved to its BelmontMore location in 1923 from San Jose, and overlaps campuses with Notre Dame Elementary School and Notre Dame De Namur University. There are 21 students on average in each class. Various activities offered include sports, Student Council, peer tutoring and counseling programs, and three school publications — the school newspaper, literary magazine and yearbook. The school also participates in a tri-school program with Mercy High School in Burlingame and Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo that includes academics, campus ministry, performing arts and student activites.
