I just checked the banned list and although the limit is 7 letters, which means some would have toRead More be shortened, there is nothing on the list that looks anything like Christian, Jewish, Islamic, or otherwise. So at the moment they appear to be allowed. However, Jew is banned, Jesus, God, and Mohammed are not. Jihad and KKK are banned. consistent it is not.

How about telling us something WGAS about like Obama sending 300 troops to POLAND and 200 to aRead More Nevada Ranch!
Alex Viecelli April 19, 2014 at 05:18 pm
The world would be a much better place if we were all more tolerant of everyone's religious beliefsRead More or lack of them. I may not agree with her but a do believe in the 1st amendment. This is what happends when you let government regulate every part of your life.

I own a small business in Woodridge IL. The amount of credit card fraud has here has increased tenRead More fold over last year. I have to tell you that the card owner doesn't get burned, the card issuer don't either, nor does the company you hire to process and approve the cards. It's the local merchant where the card was used. Online ordering is the worst. The big banks say you didn't swipe a card, so you're liable, even though it was approved by that same bank at the time of purchase. If this keeps up, I'll have to go backwards in time and shut down online ordering. So much for a cashless society.

I think I will go back to using checks at stores and cash at gas stations. I found a gas station inRead More Eagle Rock that gives a discount for using cash and generally buy my gas there. Not as convenient as using a debit card but I had to cancel my card after using it at Target right before Christmas. What a hassle.
cookiepro2 April 19, 2014 at 03:28 pm
I've started using cash more in the past year for grocery and gas. It's simplified bill paying,Read More reducing the number of credit card receipts that need to be reconciled with statements! Though I still like the 5% discount from using my Target card and the cash back bonus from Discover. Anyway gotta have a good reason now for using my credit cards, either buying online (necessity then) or some reward incentive.

Pam J, you need a check up from the neck up. My goodness. An Obamazombie,no doubt.
Igor April 19, 2014 at 04:18 pm
I love the people who have nothing to add to the conversation so they throw either Obama or gunRead More control in. Either subject are worth debating at another time. But this conversation has nothing to do with either.

Im with those of us who want local news or no news from the Patch. Really, how did this happen?Read More How do we bring pressure to this? Vote with our feet?

NO -----SHE DESERVES WHAT SHE GOT..- She STABBED STABBED STABBED..she should have gotten the deathRead More penalty.....but michigan has only life in prison. Don't have sympathy for her just because she's a woman. She's a cold blooded killer and deserves what she got.
RON Ostrodamus April 19, 2014 at 12:11 am
The death penalty certainly cuts down on the record number of incarcerations in America. Enough ofRead More this liberal crap on humane punishment. The word "humane' never enters the minds of these cold blooded killers. What is going to happen if another bombing takes place outside of Texas? What is going to happen with the next airplane hijacking, or Boston?
DDB April 19, 2014 at 04:29 am
Don, the comments were made at sentencing, not at trialso it hss no bearing on her conviction.

Why have any laws or regulation if they are not enforced? Public safety is about everybody doingRead More their part. Getting lazy or 'daring' the cops to act is not participating as a citizen.
A Delargo April 19, 2014 at 01:22 pm
Years ago I was comforted by seeing police cars in traffic. It felt somehow safer. Now they areRead More turning into rolling tax collectors. Now their job is two-fold, enforce the law AND make your ticket quota. I'm sure this helps pay for their inflated retirement. Without all this added revenue their jobs would be outsourced to another town or county.
Geo Kitta April 19, 2014 at 04:18 pm
Everyone is against paying taxes: taxes bad! - everyone wants the services that taxes support, likeRead More law enforcement - law enforcement good! Let's see, law enforcement good but no taxes... humm, wonder why they have become rolling tax collectors?
WCSC screen grab shows charges against worker.
Igor April 19, 2014 at 06:39 am
HF the charges were dropped. There is a problem because and I quote from the Patch"Lewis saysRead More he never noticed "No Free Re-Fill" signs and admits he had refilled his drink without paying on other occasions" and "On-site construction worker Chris Lewis told WCSC News he didn't know refills at the VA Medical Center in downtown Charleston weren't free."Where did you read that he knew he had to pay for it? No where in the article does he said he knew it.

This country makes me want to projectile vomit.
Rae Anne Resident April 19, 2014 at 01:31 pm
It sure helps that I'm a little old lady because I just bring my cup from home from the last time IRead More was at a store. The last time I paid for a drink at costco was probably before the terrorists attacked us on 9-11. What's the big deal here, it's only soda? If this guy wants free drinks, it's none of your business, and non of the business of that nosey cop neither. You people don't get it, it's flat out entrapment by having the soda available. What's next, you expect me not to use my dead sister's handicap placard too?
Palomar Parkman April 17, 2014 at 11:10 am
I heard it was a homeless man that was in the park often and slept there at night. I also heardRead More that another homeless man was attacked in Red Morton a few days earlier but was able to fend off the attackers. It is a sad commentary on our community if this is true.
Corinne Kason April 17, 2014 at 11:42 am
That's true Palomar. The poor fellow was a kind gentle soul - he used to be a teacher - he wasRead More beaten by young thugs, the same ones I imagine who beat his friend a few days earlier. I only hope the police follow up thoroughly to find he horrible people who did this.
Palomar Parkman April 17, 2014 at 12:39 pm
Homelessness is an unfortunate and heart wrenching part of our society. Almost all homeless areRead More harmless lost souls. It is a sick person (or people) that would do such a thing. I also hope they will find those people and lock them up for a long time.

Horses should not be nose to exhaust pipe on city streets. That is cruelty and the horse had hadRead More enough.
kathleen macmurray April 17, 2014 at 05:46 am
A horse and carriage ride in a park, fine. But not on busy, crowded city streets. It's cruel to theRead More horse and dangerous to everyone else. I'm with the NYC mayor on this one.

When taxes are imposed on various industries then to stay in business the prices increase on theRead More consumer! Obamacare , gas taxes, payroll taxes, tolls, the proposed soda and candy tax , your tobacco tax is 75% of what the product really costs! Commercial Property tax increases! Do you people see what's going on here? This country is being destroyed by the Democrats! It is starting to resemble The a Soviet Union! We should change the name of this country to the USSA!

Mark, Your words are absolutely disgusting. Please do not use this comment thread as a vehicle toRead More spew your racist mentality. And for your information, food-borne illnesses come from agriculture, period. All around the world, including in the U.S. Lastly, your hatred for people of colour does not mean that you understand disease, at all. Good luck in life.
