Also, the Bay Area has a wonderful Olympic gold medal ice skating tradition in Kristi Yamaguchi and…Read More Brian Boitano...I remember the "Battle of the Brians" like it was yesterday. Brian Boitano of the USA battling it out with Brian Orser of Canada in the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988. Brian Boitano pulled it out and got the gold medal! It was one of the most thrilling moments in US skating history. And how can one forget the beauitful and incredible Kristi Yamaguchi clinching the Olympic Gold Medal in Albertville, France in 1992. The French Alps were unbelievable. Please Bridgepointe Management have a heart!!!

Yes, I was at BJs last night for dinner. No more Starbuck's..loved seeing the little ice skaters…Read More sipping their hot chocolate after their skating lessons. No more Home Depot, Chipolte, Target, Toys R Us, Sports Authority, BJs. SportsClips. My family spends a lot of money there. I will go to Redwood City instead if they take out the ice rink. This is a bad idea. The ice rink creates at wonderful vibe at Bridgepointe. That is one of the main reasons I liked shopping there....My family does not even skate at that rink. However, I am very tired of the children of CA getting the short end of the stick all the time...I will never spend another cent at Bridgepointe if the rink goes away! I would not want the developer to profit from my family's hard earned money.

The City has spent time working with the developer, behind closed doors it would seem, yet input…Read More from the public was an afterthought due to MANY families showing up at a May 6 City Council Meeting (not on the Agenda, yet rink to close June 1 !) So many kids spoke so sincerely and eloquently how the closure would hurt them and their friends. Does San Mateo City Hall care about the residents of our community? Especially the children. City Hall has the upper hand (the Master Plan agreement), we expect them to step up. Why has City Hall allowed SPI to make the children of our community suffer so much agony and pain over this process? Shame on City Hall for letting this drag out !!

Don't give up....the kids are worth it! It is wrong for SPI to be in non-compliance with the master…Read More plan. City Hall should be filing some type of injunction to stop closure of the ice center....this is not right. Repeat of what happened with 7 Eleven on North San Mateo Drive when the developer ignored our City ordinances/plans. Why is this happening again in our City of San Mateo?

Hard to believe there are comments like Finaua's in this day and age. I guess ignorance will always…Read More be around us. Her comment is baseless and actually is contrary to research. Research suggests that they turn out about the same, no better, no worse and no more likely to be gay than other kids
