Hi Steve, no, that 2/3 thing is what the district has done. 7/7/7 each split between SP, RWSE and…Read More Nesbit. In terms of the district thought process on this, I'm not sure. Technically, with no boundaries, the closest school would be Nesbit. I'm assuming they are spreading the kids around vs. putting them all at one location.

I think we should bring up this point to the SUHSD and remind them that all of the genius children…Read More that "belong to RWC" should go to Sequoia High School and not Carlmont. I hope beyond hope that you are not putting this kind of pressure on your elementary aged child/ren. May I suggest you educate yourself of the performance of past Nesbit students at Ralston, Carlmont and the many UC schools and other colleges they attend (many on academic scholarships) before you continue to make such baseless claims.

Thank you J Marshall....I will include this link in the body of the story. It appears that boundary…Read More maps are available per high school in this link. I will still see if the district has a more comprehensive map of the current boundaries for all schools.

My daughter, Olivia, was so impressed with their performance. She looks forward to the day that she…Read More will be the big kid visiting Central:)
What a great community service to inspire the younger kids!

Fun time at Central School! Thank you, Carlmont Choirs!

Hi Rajiv....let me see if I can get the latest map from the district to post with this story. Stay…Read More tuned.

Hi Everyone....thank you for taking part in this important discussion. And while we're at it, can someone squeeze Redwood Shores into the decal on the district window…Read More leading into the district office? It still reads Belmont School District. Just a thought since RWS is supposedly part of this school district. Mr. Selman, can you provide us with property tax revenue and percentage of where it comes from? I've been told RWS pay disproportionately more into the general funds because of Prop 13.

Thank you, Ryca, but I'm actually an adult! My roommate is a teacher. "Ralston Parent" for…Read More some reason assumes that I must be a teenager to express what I do. Not sure about that....my post to Ralston Parent was sarcastic...as in, how could I possibly be 14 if I obviously write well and write as someone who is clearly an adult? But thanks!!
BelmontPatchHack hit the nail right on the head and posted the most true observation, yet Ralston Parent seems to have his.her head in the sand.

Jeni - I would have been proud to have been your teacher, and I hope that your previous teachers are…Read More aware of how well-spoken you are. You're also the only the 14-year-old that I know of who currently displays this level of involvement in civic discourse - I hope that you continue and end up running for some kind of office yourself!
Jeni April 20, 2013 at 02:36 pm
Yes, Ralston Parent, I sure am 14 years old. You're super intuitive. That's why my posts have such…Read More egregious grammatical errors, I use slang, write in incomplete sentences, and never use any esoteric vocabulary the way a ninth grader would. You guessed it.
You must either work for the district or somehow feel offended that Patch reader BelmontPatchHack would have the audacity to verbalize an incredibly fair view of the district. The district is the problem, not the actual schools themselves or personnel.
Since I'm only 14, I'm going to return to looking at MySpace and Instagram now while I text all my cool friends so we can go hang out. Peace out.

I am a 8th grade parent, and I too have tried to stay out of it. In fact, I was a supporter of…Read More keeping him until this week. I have been in to see him about an issue ever since last week and he hasn't been there. I can't get a call back or an answer as to when he'll be there. No one seems to know. I tried last week and then again on Monday and then again today. What gives? I just feel bad for all the parents and teachers who are putting out for this guy and he doesn't seem to care. I'm starting to see the problem.
RalsonParent April 15, 2013 at 04:26 pm
Thank you Henry for the correction. I was looking through the eyes of the current 7th graders -…Read More they have had 3 principals since starting at Ralston.
Henry B April 15, 2013 at 05:33 pm
Wow, Ralston Parent,
What makes your opinion more valuable thab others. There are a lot of parents…Read More who have not had good interactions with Mr. Carson. I happen to be one of them. Are you saying that because we agree with the Boards desicions that we are any less valued than the Parents and teachers who are picketing and going to the meetings? Maybe all the anti Carsoners should start picketing, and see how many numbers we get out there, but this is about what is best for our kids and there must be SERIOUS issues going on that the Board has made the decision to let him, Strong opinions can be dangerous, since none of us know the REAL reasons for him being let go.
RalsonParent April 15, 2013 at 12:48 pm
Monica,
I'm a parent, not a teacher and I find your comment insulting to the teachers and many…Read More parents. SO many well-respected teachers spoke from their hearts in support of Carson in the board meetings and you call them stupid and heads in the sand? Making comments like that will make your view discounted.
Monica Wheatley April 14, 2013 at 04:44 pm
If you want to know why Mr. Carson is not being rehired for next year ask him! He obviously knows…Read More the answer......the district will not tell u
You because it's a personnel matter.....they are not allowed to share this information. A law you would be appreciative of if you were fired!
Do the teachers outside doing informational picketing realize how stupid they look?
Obviously if they knew what was really going on at their own school they would not be out there. Open your eyes teachers....have a discussion with parents who like myself have had trouble working with your principal. Find out what the issues are and get your heads out of the sand before the community discounts anything you stand for!
Ask yourself......are things really running smoothly at school?

Thank you for your support, Denise! Be sure to say hi after the show.

I invite Belmont to come to our play. This is not your boring high school Shakespeare. It's funny,…Read More witty, there's physical comedy, dancing, music, and it's all set on a Carribean Island in 2013! It's a fresh approach to this popular Shakespeare comedy. Even if you don't understand the language, you will still be able to easily follow the story. Please come support the arts in our community.
Thanks,
George Metropulos (Sir Toby Belch).
