It is with great sadness that I learned today of Kurtis's passing - he was a highly valued member ofRead More our 2003 AYSO U12Boys team 'The Cyclones' and helped us to a second place that year. Our condolences go out to his family and friends - in our memory he will always be a forward pushing to score for his team. Craig, Jackie and Kevin Burleigh

So sorry for this family's loss. Its so hard to lose someone so young. It sounds like he made theRead More most of his time here.

I remember Kurtis as an awesome soccer player from an early age---his spiked hair, muddy cleats andRead More big smile said it all---he was a good friend to my son Charlie, and our family mourns the loss of a young man gone too soon.

I remember Joe Kimble very well. He proudly served with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office fromRead More 1953-64, I missed a wonderful opportunity to serve with him, since I did not start my employment there until 1966. Joe was highly respected in every law enforcement job and assignment he ever held. He was great man, always ready to help a fellow, person, or officer, to be better at his/her job. The last time I saw Joe was when he stopped by for a visit and a short lunch with the dayshift staff at the DeAnza Community College Police Department Office, where his was previously served as the campus Chief of Police, that was in 2009. Joe will always be remembered for his great smile and friendly manner. Joe was a true law enforcement professional. His good deeds will nor be forgotten and he will surely be missed. My wife (Eileen) and I extend our regards to his lovely wife Marilyn and the other members of his family. God Bless you all.

I was walking my dog past Toni's house one beautiful afternoon. He was just setting up for hisRead More dinner on the porch. I joked with him that it smelled wonderful (and it really did). He insisted I take a bite. I really didn't want to interrupt his dinner, but he insisted. I took I bite of his breaded sauted shrimp and it was delicious!. I asked for the recipe and he was all to happy to share. I will miss Toni.

I will miss Tony....his cheerful personality and lively discussions from his grandchildren to hisRead More WWII experiences, his garden, his little "zipcar".... He was a member of the Liguri Nel Mondo Association (descendant families from Genoa area in Italy) and attended the WWII memorabilia exhibit at Joe Garbarino's in San Rafael. Addio Tony.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Whenever I think of Joe I remember ourRead More spirited conversations, especially those political ones. Oh, my, could he be opinionated. And yet, he was always accepting of information that could tilt his sway. I will miss him a lot. And I am here for you, Chris, Alexis and Joseph. Much love always, Adele

The class of 1971 at Serra High included unique individuals that wove a harmonious pattern ofRead More friendship and mutual respect. Buck stood out among those individuals. It was always a pleasure to run into him in the hallways and lunchroom. We have already lost several of our best classmates and it gets harder each time. I was fortunate enough to see him one last time during our annual Christmas gathering (actually my first) and will always remember him fondly. We are all better people for knowing Buck.

Before the time of cell phones, email, and online resources, participating in FOMF Trivia Hunt wasRead More 48 hours of guaranteed great adventure as we raced around the bay in search of the obscure and hard-to-find. It often became a contest of Spy vs. Spy, swiping books from tables and employing counter-intelligence-like tactics to lead other teams astray. We didn't intend on learning or even winning most times but the race and court-like scoring event was something between Animal House and the Paper Chase and did teach me so much. A posthumous thank you to Dr Hunter. A great educator.

My wife and I figured out way too many years later that we both must have participated at the sameRead More time in a couple of Millard Fillmore hunts while we were at M-A and Gunn, respectively. Dr. Bob Hunter's hosting of the opening and closing sessions of the hunts were always enjoyable. RIP, Dr. Hunter.

Dr. Hunter was a great man--a true "Top Scot!"

That raises another conundrum - should we feel obligated to pay a corkage fee for a screw topRead More bottle? In any event I would prefer paying a corkage fee rather than a screw off fee.

Gin I understand your position that Belmont needs another middle school but CSUS won't reallyRead More provide any service to the children of Belmont. The price of nearly $40k a year puts it out of the range of a majority of Belmont residents

As a parent of the Belmont/Redwood Shores, Carlmont school system in our city, I know how badRead More traffic can be. About 5 years ago, Ralston Middle School and the police did a study on the congestion leaving Ralston. Parents were no longer able to make a left turn out of Ralston which was a very good call, traffic flowed. However, since there was no left turn leaving Ralston Middle School, many use Davis to get back onto Ralston West, and to 280. In addition, many parents use Davis to pick up their kids at 3:00 p.m. Not a huge impact for the businesses, but conflicting hours will be a problem. The school hours would need to be different from the public schools today, and probably earlier, since it may impact the companies; Cengage, Vindicia and the County office that are in the Davis Business Park today. The reality is that we need another Middle School and a business (in this case), to drive in my revenue for our City’s roads and infrastructure. If they move to Redwood Shores, we won't see any funds!

I worked with Ron in the late 80's, I wanted to learn media relations from the aviation media guru.Read More He was that person. He was a wonderful person to work with, learn from, as many of the write-ups indicate he was a very dedicated person in the aviation media world and also a very dedicated husband. It saddens me to discover this news. He was a great man! ....Jennifer (Donohue) Grunest

As a KTVU cameraman, I was so sad to hear this news today. Though I lost touch with dear Ron afterRead More his departure from SFO, he was a dear friend. We were happy to see each other and hugs were a norm. When I needed a interview with him , he was more than happy to take me to his office upstairs, where I admired his airplane toys and mugs collected from tv and radio stations. We went up to the control tower on several occasions and many places not allowed today. I will miss Ron very much.
