Chocolate Fest

Chocolate candy, ice cream, cookie and dessert makers from the Peninsula and the entire Bay Area will offer their chocolate wares for tasting Oct. 4 and 5 at the 31st annual Chocolate Fest, sponsored by the Congregational Church of Belmont.

The tastings will be: 
  • Session 1, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 
  • Session 2, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5
  • Session 3, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

Emergency Preparedness for Kids

Nesbit Elementary School Playground  10:00 a.m.
Sarah, a Senior at Carlmont High School, is hosting an emergency preparedness event at Nesbit Elementary School for school-aged kids. This is event is the final project for Sarah's Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn and equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle Rank Award. 

Friends Play Group: Theater based social skills class for kids
10:00 a.m. 1835 Belburn Dr., Belmont, Barrett Community Center, Room E  

Friends Play Group: Theater based social skills workshop for children ages 6 - 9 years. The San Carlos Children’s Theater (SCCT) has scheduled a FALL 2013 Session of Friends Play Group (FPG) for children ages 6 - 9 years. 

Fall Book Sale
10:00 a.m. Belmont Library, 1110 Alameda de las Pulgas,

It's the Friends' Fall Sale at the Belmont Library. One day only! All books, CD's, tapes & DVD's are 10-50% off! Come early before everything is gone! 

Peninsula Italian American Social Club Bocce Ball Tournament 

Red Morton Park, 1120 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City 
Join Redwood City Mayor Alicia Aguirre, Honoree Maureen Freschet, and the Peninsula Italian American Social Club for a little bocce! Senator Jerry Hill will also be making an appearance at this event! Starts at 8am  Location:  Cost: $15 lunch at noon for non-players 

Water-Efficient Landscaping Class

Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA), Redwood City's local water agency, will team up with the city's Public Works Dept. to offer free water-efficient landscaping classes in RWC's new demonstration garden. The focus on irrigation; how to install and maintain an irrigation system.

Save the Music: School-Force Fundrasier for Belmont-Redwood Shores School District 
11:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Twin Pines Park, Belmont

This Sunday, the Save the Music Fest will showcase top tribute bands, jazz & blues, school musicians and the Battle of the Marching Bands. Presented by Oracle and KFOX and benefiting School-Force.

Olive Fest
The classic rock riffs of Santana, Styx, Heart, and Fleetwood Mac will echo through the olive orchards at the 16th annual Arts & Olive Festival at Cañada College.

The festival will be held from 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday, Oct. 6 on the college grounds, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City. 


In the Spirit of Lennon
