For Earth Day, Why Not Start in Your Own Backyard?

The City of Belmont is offering free document shredding, E-waste recycling and compost give-away this Saturday.

 

Before heading out to help clean up your local park, creek bed or highway this Earth Day, grab all those old documents and assorted dead electronics that have been cluttering your garage and bring them to a free recycling event at

This Saturday, April 21, the  will be participating in a statewide cleanup event in conjunction with Earth Day.  In addition to the cleanup (details below), the city will gladly shred your old documents, safely dispose of your electronic waste AND give you some compost for your garden.

On-land cleanup 

  • Saturday 9:00 a.m.-noon
  • Meet at City Hall in front of the lobby, One Twin Pines Lane
  • Bring your own reusable bucket, gloves and water bottle
  • Clean-up will take place in various locations throughout the city

Free Compost

  • Saturday and Sunday--open hours
  • BYB (Bring your own bucket)
  • Compost will be available for pickup at the rear of Belmont City Hall parking lot, One Twin Pines Lane

Document Shredding 

  • Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Document shredding will be held in front of City Hall in the parking lot,One Twin Pines Lane

E-Waste Recycling 

  • Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • An E-Waste station will be set up in the parking lot of City Hall, One Twin Pines Lane

I was thinking of getting Mama Earth something for Earth Day but what do you get someone who has everything?

Would have been nice if the e-waste people had stayed until 3:00 as promised instead of leaving at 2:00.
