Hi, my name is Erika and I am a Senior Girl Scout and a sophomore at Carlmont High School. I am currently working on my Gold Award project, which includes sewing and cooking camps this summer for kids entering 3rd grade and up.

Camp Details:

  • Both camps will be one week long and will be held during the weeks of August 5th and August 12th, Monday through Friday in Belmont.
  • The cooking camp is from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm and the sewing camp is from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

I will teach a different sewing and cooking project each day, some of which include:
-        A pencil case
-        A drawstring bag using a sewing machine
-        Mac ‘n Cheese from scratch
-        A homemade double layer, frosted cake

  • Campers may sign up for one or both camps. These are non-profit camps, and there will only be a charge for the cost of materials. The morning camp (cooking) and the afternoon camp (sewing) are each $75, or $140 for both.  This covers the cost of materials/ingredients, a scrapbook to document recipes and/or projects, and a Girl Scout patch (if the camper is a Girl Scout).
  • Supervision will be provided between the camps for campers who stay all day.

In order to make this project a success, I would really appreciate your help in signing up your children and letting your friends know about this fun, skill-building, and inexpensive experience.

Registration Details:

  • These camps are available to all boys and girls entering 3rd grade and above.
  • Campers must register by May 1st, and I recommend signing up ASAP to ensure a spot.  Spots are filling up fast!
  • Email me at elmannie@comcast.net to register.

I am also looking for teen and adult volunteers to help aid the camps, so please let me know if you are interested.

Thank you,

Erika Mannie
