The senior game for the Notre Dame Tennis team marked the end of the journey for the graduating seniors as they played their last home match and said goodbye to the friendships they made throughout the four years. Players Maddy Ching, Amy Smerdel, Carly Bauman, and managers Lyddie Dailey and Laura Kastilani were celebrated in their achievements this season as well as their accomplishments from past years. Many players dedicated their 5-2 win against Presentation in honor of the graduating seniors.

“It was a great match because we came out on top. It was an awesome feeling considering it was our seniors last game, and we all were going to miss them!” Jenny Joyner said.

The coach not only said a blessing for the seniors’ departure, but the seniors also received farewell gifts.

“We made shirts and posters for them and our coach honored them all in a great speech. It was a great last game!” Sophia La Herran said.

The underclassmen also considered the seniors as role models and were sad to see them go.

“I'm the oldest kid in my family, so I never really knew what it was like to have older sisters. But after going through two seasons with all of the seniors, I truly consider them all to be my sisters. I'm going to miss them so much next year,” Riley McGlinchey said.

The seniors were recognized for all their hard work, and the underclassmen commemorated their successes from the past years.

“I was truly honored to be playing tennis all four years of high school at Notre Dame. I am blessed that every year I played I had an amazing team with it. I love the shirts and the posters that the team made and the little charm necklace given as a remembrance of my senior game. Congrats to all the seniors this year and good luck in college,” senior Maddy Ching said.
