49er football fever may have the Peninsula in its grips, but it wasn't hard for the SF Giants faithful to take themselves back a few months for those glorious 21 days in October when the near-impossible became a reality - as the second World Series championship came to the City by the Bay.
Along with the championship came the second trophy in three years - and the baseball bling was on display today in Redwood City's Courthouse Square for fans of all ages to get up close and personal and have a photo taken with the twin trophies, from the Giants 2010 and 2012 championship seasons.
As if on cue, the sun broke out over the courthouse at about 10 a.m., just as the first fans made their way through the line to take their place alongside the trophy for a moment of greatness and a quick photo.
Albert Jaimes, Community Relations Manager for the Giants and Nicole Zongus of the team's Community Fund explained that the trophy has made the rounds to cities that host teams in the Junior Giants baseball league.
"We try to accommodate every city that requests a trophy stop," said Jaimes.
"And we look for a venue, like Courthouse Square, that can accommodate all the fans."
And the fans were certainly accommodated - an orderly line of happy fans sporting their black and orange (okay, there were a few in red and gold) waited patiently for their turn to stand between the trophies for a photo op.
"I'm really sick today...'wink wink'," said one young man who clearly should have been in school. But come on.....how often do you get to dress up in your team's colors and actually be part of history?
