Join Edgewood docent Barb Erny on a nature hike as she focuses on local native plants that have been used for food and medicinal purposes.
To display the treasures of Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve all year long, Friends of Edgewood’s trained docents now guide nature hikes on the third Saturday morning of each month. The 3 - 4 mile walks vary according to the docent and the current happenings in the Preserve.
The approximately three-hour walks through grasslands, chaparral, coastal scrub, and foothill woodlands, offer a surprising amount of biodiversity. Edgewood supports over 500 distinct plant species, four of which are federally listed as endangered or threatened.
