Dave Newhouse's "Before Boxing Lost It's Punch"

Dave Newhouse, the award-winning and long-time sportswriter and columnist for the Oakland Tribune, has written his eighth book about his life-long fascination with the sport of boxing, based on fights he heard on the
radio with his father in the late-1940s. With a foreword from Professional Football Hall-of-Famer, John Madden, Newhouse’s book focuses on what is considered boxing’s premier weight-division, the middleweights. Of this
division, Newhouse concentrates on three of boxing’s most recognizable figures from the post-war period: Tony Zale, Rocky Graziano and Marcel Cerdan. It is with these three boxers as the backdrop that Newhouse paves the way for a
present-day understanding of the sports decline in popularity.

Newhouse is coming to Little House Activity Center in Menlo Park on May 22nd to discuss his book as well as his collected insight into the future of publishing with regard to ebooks and the technologies that made his self-publication possible. “Before Boxing Lost It’s Punch” can be purchased
through Amazon for $1.99 on Kindle.
