BRS Coach: 'Watch Us, We'll Make You Proud'
Crowds gathered at Jamba Juice Wednesday morning as the Belmont Redwood Shores Little League All Stars headed out for the Western Regional Championship Tournament
A Redwood City motorcycle officer escorted the busload of Little League coaches and athletes Wednesday morning as the Belmont Redwood Shores All Stars team headed off to San Bernadino to represent Northern California in the Western Regional Championship Tournament.
A rally was held in the team's honor Wednesday outside of Jamba Juice in the parking lot of the Redwood Shores Nob Hill Shopping Center. Parents, coaches, neighbors and city officials gathered to with the team well and to cheer on the bus as it departed for the week-long tournament in Souther California.
The team of 11/12 year-old all stars has swept through district and regional tournaments to reach the pinnacle of Little League success---with just one tournament standing between them and the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.
Baseball fan Jessie Lim wiped away tears as she waved to the bus. Although she doesn't have a son playing on the team, Lim said the boys have all grown up together since kindergarten.
"It's such a tight-knit community---we are like family," Lim said of her Redwood Shores neighbors.
"I'm so emotional....this is so amazing," Lim added.
