Belmont Xtreme Wins District II Soccer Championship

The girls' Under-14 team shines in one of Northern California's largest soccer tournaments.

In a weekend-long tournament at the Morgan Hill Sports Complex Oct. 22-24, Belmont Xtreme U14G (Under 14 Girls) came out on top in District II Cup competition, winning the Copper division.

The Xtreme, part of the Belmont United Soccer Club (a CYSA organization), began the tournament Saturday morning with an impressive 9-0 win over the Aptos Tide.  They followed it up with a close 2-1 win against the RYSC Diamantes that afternoon.  To seal their spot in the Sunday afternoon final, the Xtreme came from behind to tie the Los Gatos Lynx 2-2 early Sunday morning.

The Xtreme culminated their championship run with a close 1-0 victory against the Stanford Explosion in the title game; scoring the winning goal with less than five minutes remaining.

Belmont Xtreme is coached by Tim Nixon. Jason Mann and Chris Zaino manage the team.

District II is made up of teams from San Francisco to Monterey, making the District Cup championships one of the largest soccer tournaments in Northern California.
