The Fire started off with a great win for 3-0 against Sunnyvale Alliance Red. They then followed that with a tough win against a feisty Almaden team for 1-0 and finished it up with at 3-1 win against MVLA. The 27 points for Fire were the highest point totals of the Bronze division and qualified them for the 1st & 2nd place final.

The Ice team had a more difficult road, after losing 1-0 in a tight match to FC Milpitas (the grand final runner-up) they bounced back to win 1-0 against MT Hamilton, and finished it off with a great tie against the Sunnivale Alliance White team 0-0. The 12 points earned were the 3rd highest total in the two U10 Girls Bronze brackets and qualified them for the 3rd & 4th place final.

The tables were set for Sundays afternoon Finals:

For the 1st time in BUSC club history two teams at the same age level had qualified for the afternoon finals:

Fire would face FC Milpitas in the grand final, Ice would face Almaden in the 3rd and 4th place final.

1st & 2nd Place Final:

Fire went down early to FC Milpitas in the first 5 minutes of the match, and then responded about 10 minutes later with their own goal tying the match 1-1. The match was an exciting back and forth and it looked like the game might go to penalties until late in the 2nd half when Fire found the winning goal out of a mix in the penatly box: 2-1.
The scoreline stayed the same for the reminder of the match and the fire were champions!

3rd & 4th Place Final:

Ice too went down first to Almaden 1-0 and then the San Jose team added to the lead: 2-0. It looked like a comeback was possible when Ice pulled closer 2-1 in the second half of the match and then mounted an all out attack on the Almaden team, searching for that elusive equalizer that never materialized.

Ice's 4th place finish was still remarkable given they had fight to climb back into the finals.

Congratulations to the players and coaches of Belmont Fire, Ice & Comets!
