Belmont Blaze Takes Soccer Title

The U11 Belmont CYSA girls team won the district soccer championship on Sunday.

In a nail-biter of a game on Sunday, the Belmont Blaze, a girls U11 soccer team, came out on top to claim the California Youth Soccer Association's district championship.

The girls, coached by Jennie Maruyama, beat the Stanford SC Flares 1-0 on a dramatic goal by Blaze player Donya Khonsari.

Team spokesman John Ozmert complimented the coaching staff and praised the girls for their impressive run up to the championship game.

"Our Blaze Coach Jennie Maruyama and assistant Coach Devon did a fantastic job this season to bring two trophy's to Belmont," said Ozmert.

"It was a breathtaking game but our girls made it happen with Donya Khonsari s beautiful goal. So it was the end of it and the season is over for now," Ozmert added.
