Belmont-RWS U10 Girls Soccer Team to Play for Sectional Championship This Weekend

Coach Andre Kessler invites the community to cheer on the team this weekend at Port Royal Park in Foster City.

Belmont-Redwood Shores AYSO teams had great success this fall both during the regular season and post-season tournaments.

"It was great to see over 1,000 children have fun and develop their soccer skills.  I also wanted to congratulate the division winners and the success they had at the area tournament. The did a great job representing Belmont," said AYSO co-regional commissioner Jaime Dal Porto.

And according to Dal Porto, the success continues for the U10 Girls team, Intensity. The team will play this weekend in a sectional tournament in Foster City where they will compete against regional champions from Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Northern CA.

Intensity coach Andre Kessler says his team is quite special.

"They won the regional city championship for Belmont-Redwood Shores, and last weekend they played in AYSO Area (teams along the Peninsula) and made it to the championship game," Kessler told Patch in an email.

Kessler said that his star player was only playing at about 50 percent after hurting her ankle in the second game of the tournament. But despite her injury, she played and the team placed second in the tournament.

The team has advanced to the sectional tournament this weekend at Port Royal Park in Foster City.

Kessler and Dal Porto are hoping the Belmont-Redwood Shores soccer community will come out and support the team in its quest for the sectional championship.
