Young Musicians to Present 'Prelude to Spring' this Weekend at CHS

The Peninsula Youth Orchestra will perform at Carlmont High School Saturday and Sunday.

 

The 120 member award-winning Peninsula Youth Orchestra, comprised of local young musicians, will perform two concerts this weekend at

On Saturday, the Sinfonia Musica and Orchestra Nova Musicians, under the direction of Sara Salsbury, will perform "Music for March" at 4:00 and 4:45 p.m. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, musical selections will include Sword Dance, Declaration and Dance, and Irish Song.

Tickets for Saturday's performances are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and are available at the door.

On Sunday at 4:30 p.m., Maestro Mitchell Sardou Klein, will present "Prelude to Spring" featuring his senior orchestra, which will perform Bernstein's Candide Overture and West Side Story Selections, and Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Ballet Suite

Specially featured will be PYO concerto winners Sarah Ghandour of Atherton performing Saint Saën's Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, and Alex van der Veen of Palo Alto performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor

As an added attraction, PYO's top preparatory orchestra, the Young Artists (under the direction of Sara Salsbury) will perform one hour earlier, at 3:30 PM.
