On the court, they appear like a well-oiled machine. The point guard dribbles the ball up the court, pulls up and surveys the court as his teammates scramble for an open shot. He passes to the shooting guard, who then dribbles past him defender from an excellent screen by the forward. Rather than charge down the lane into a sea of defenders he dishes to the center who easily puts it in the basket.
That is the Carlmont Basketball teamwork at its finest. And off the court, the team is just as cohesive.
“One usually finds a fractured team once the final whistle has been blown. Not this version of the Scots,” said CHS dad Chris Geronimo in his op-ed for Hoop Dreams. “I know that for a fact....my house is sometimes inhabited by a number of these boys before and after practices and/or games.”
And the girls’ varsity team handily beat Menlo-Atherton High School last week due to their impeccable rotation of the ball and exemplary teamwork. Check out a video of their victory.
