The Serra Varsity baseball team won the WCAL tournament championship on Thursday night at Santa Clara University. The Padres defeated the Wildcats of St. Ignatius by a score of 7-2. The Padres got on the board by scoring three runs on three SI errors, taking the lead by 3-0 in the top of the first. The Wildcats responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the first. However, Serra pitcher Bradley Northangel came in as a relief pitcher to stop the Wildcats from scoring.

In the 2nd inning, Collin Theroux and Jordan Paroubeck scored on throwing errors  to make the score 5-2. Michael Tinsley hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to make the score 6-2, and Jordan Paroubeck hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to make the score 7-2, eventually the final score. Pitcher Bradley Northangel threw 6 1/3 scoreless  innings of relief,  pitching an amazing game for the Padres which helped lead the team to the championship.
