Save the Music Festival Set for Oct. 2

Twin Pines Park will be the setting for the ninth annual festival benefiting Belmont's school music programs.

From fourth grade recorder groups to University of California marching bands, Belmont’s Save the Music Festival will offer a wide range of musical performances, global cuisine, and family activities.

The Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in Twin Pines Park and along Sixth Ave. near Belmont City Hall.

Festival organizer Alan Sarver explained that the funds raised at the event go directly to School-Force, the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District’s education foundation.

“Through the money raised by Save the Music and the broader efforts of School-Force, we’ve been able to keep music programs in our schools,” said Sarver.

In addition to musical performances by elementary, middle and high school students, a highlight of this year’s Festival will be a “battle of the bands” between the UC Davis and UC Berkeley marching bands. The marching bands will march through the park and will wrap up the festival with a “battle” in the Meadow.
