Taking their cue from the popularity of TV hits such as "Glee" and "The Sing-Off," and the hit movie "Pitch Perfect," the country's oldest a capella group, the Yale Spizzwinks(?) is taking their show on the road from New Haven, CT to Belmont for a special performance at Carlmont High School on Jan. 3.

And they bring with them Belmont native and Carlmont High School alumnus Márk Fédronic. Márk is a sophomore at Yale.

The Yale Spizzwinks(?) is America’s oldest a cappella group for underclassmen. The Spizzwinks(?) are performing in the San Francisco Bay area on their 2013 winter tour. (And they promise to explain the "?" that hangs at the end of their name!)

"As a group, we make a promise to our members that each person will eventually get to take the group back to his hometown- this is my chance! So I'd love for all of you to come out, say hi, and hang out! Most of the guys in the group hail from the East Coast so I'm on a little mission to help them understand why the Bay is ultimately the coolest," said Fedronic on the group's Facebook page.

“We have a lot of fun performing, and make sure audiences have a good time too,” says Fédronic.

The 18 young men, dressed in white tie and tails, perform a repertoire that ranges from Marvin Gaye to Yale songs to Bruno Mars to West Side Story. Their unique tongue-in-cheek humor and sweet harmonies are performance hallmarks.

The Spizzwinks(?), founded in 1914, are a self-funded group that is entirely managed by the singers. ds of continuing to sing in college and beyond,” says Fédronic.

“Music doesn’t end in high school or college, and you don’t need to major in music to be part of a singing group. It’s about doing what you love, having fun, and learning from the people around you. I can’t wait to perform in my hometown!”
