Ralston Students to be Greeted by Two New Deans

Eugene Santillán and Angela Toy have been selected as deans at the middle school.

There will be a few new faces welcoming students to Ralston Middle School when the doors open for the new school year on Sept. 11.

In addition to a new principal and assistant principal, on Thursday, Belmont-Redwood Shores School District Superintendent Dr. Michael Milliken announced the addition of two new deans to the administrative team at the middle school.

In July, Joe Funk was been named as principal and Jonathon Sanchez as assistant principal.

Milliken said he will recommend Eugene Santillán and Dr. Angela Toy to the Board of Trustees at its meeting on September 5, 2013.

According to a statement released by BRSSD, Eugene Santillán is a native to the SF Bay Area, born and raised in Fremont. A history teacher for ten years, Santillán has worked at both the high school and middle school level.

For the last three years, he has coordinated the AVID, GEAR UP Grant, and after school programs at Bohannon Middle School in San Lorenzo. This summer he worked as the Summer School Principal for the secondary level in San Lorenzo. Santillán and his wife Jorja, who teaches high school English, live in San Leandro.
