Nun to Speak at NDNU on Trends in the US Catholic Church

Sister Mary Johnson will present findings and analysis from a recent survey of Catholics.

 

As part of its Catholic Scholars Series, (NDNU), will present “Anticipating the Future: Trends in the U.S. Catholic Church,” a talk by Sr. Mary Johnson.

The event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. in the Cunningham Memorial Chapel on the campus.

 The lecture will present findings and analysis from a recent national survey of Catholics in the U.S. The lecture will focus on demographic, geographic, and generational change in the Catholic Church in the U.S., with special emphasis on the youngest cohort of adult Catholics.

Sr. Mary Johnson is a sister of Notre Dame de Namur and professor of sociology and religious studies at Emmanuel College in Boston, where she also serves as chair of the sociology department and director of the Center for Mission and Spirituality. Her research interests are women religious, young adult Catholics and Catholic social teaching.
