NDNU Hires Emmy Award-Winning Journalist as Alumni Director

Elizabeth Valente is the Belmont college's new director of alumni relations and annual projects.

Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) has hired Emmy award-winning journalist Elizabeth Valente as its new director of alumni relations and annual projects. The position will combine alumni relations with university advancement.

“NDNU alumni are huge supporters in assisting the university in a variety of ways by sending students to our university, providing internships and jobs, and providing financial support,” said Hernan Bucheli, vice president for external affairs.

“Elizabeth will bring some good ideas about how to move the alumni program forward in the future and will be a great member of our team,” Bucheli added.

Valente has extensive experience in communications management and most recently served as the director of communications and publications at Samuel Merritt University, a health sciences institution located in Oakland. Previous to entering the academic world, Valente worked as a reporter for several local news outlets including CNN, CBS, and FOX in the Bay Area and the Greater Sacramento Area.

She has garnered several broadcast journalism awards including an Emmy recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Northern California and an Associated Press Television-Radio Association of California and Nevada Award. She has a degree in broadcast journalism from San Francisco State and a degree in international relations from the University of London.
