Great Speakers Are Made, Not Born
The Belmont Parks & Recreation Department is offering a new public speaking class for students.
Because good communication is crucial to success in school and beyond, the is offering a new public speaking class for students ages 9-14.
"Informative Speech" will teach students the essentials of clear, effective presentation. Students will create a speech on a topic of their choice and learn to manage nervousness, develop research/organizational skills, and communicate effectively. Most importantly, students gain confidence.
This class includes detailed feedback, and professional coaches. Final speeches will be on DVD to take home.

An overview of the program and sample activities of public speaking, debate and other classes will be available at a free open house on Sat. Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. at the , Room D.

- Saturdays, Sept. 15 – Nov. 17 (10 classes)
- 1 – 2pm (Ages 9-10 years)
- 2:15-3:15 (Ages 11-14 years)
- Fee: $274 Belmont residents, $294 Non-residents
- Materials fee: $25
- Instructor: Communication Academy Staff
