Nap Included: Full-Day Kindergarten Offered at Notre Dame Elementary

Kindergarteners now have an opportunity to experience a longer school day in preparation for first grade.

Starting this fall, Notre Dame Elementary School (NDE) in Belmont will offer a full-day kindergarten program.

School officials say the full-day program builds on a child’s natural curiosity for the world around them, inspiring them to become lifelong learners.  In addition, they say kindergarteners are prepared for first grade and beyond by learning important skills needed for academic and social success.

In addition to the core curriculum (math, science, social studies, and language arts), the NDE kindergarteners will participate in activities in technology, art, music and physical education.

“We have been committed to developing the whole child—intellectually, physically and emotionally—for over 50 years.  Our students are challenged academically, but are also taught an awareness of the needs of others through toy drives, food drives and community work.  We are very excited to extend this tradition,” said NDE principal, Dr. Gerald Traynor.
