Fox Elementary Kids Hoof it to School: A Slideshow

Hundreds of kids district-wide took the National Walk/Bike to School Day challenge seriously. Here are some happy pedestrian commuters on their way to Fox.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect--the heat wave broke, the autumn sun was just warm enough, and most kids seemed to get up early enough to forgo their carpools and join their parents and guardians for a safe and energetic walk or bike ride to school on Wednesday in celebration of National Walk/Bike to School Day.

A few kids were dropped off in cars, but drop-off safety coordinator Cathleen Morehouse said business was slower than usual on Wednesday.

"We always have a lot of kids walking to school, without a doubt there are more today--it's great, " said Morehouse who has safely guided thousands of kids through the Fox parking lot over the past 17 years.

"I think some of the ones being dropped off in cars overslept," chuckled Morehouse.
