When Belmont Redwood Shores School Board member Cathy Wright opted not to seek another four-year term, only one person stepped up to fill her seat. With no opposition, Belmont resident Daniel Kaul filed his papers to run for the seat and became the automatic replacement for Wright.
Current board members, Robert Tashijian and Charles Velschow, whose terms were also up, filed to run again, and they too, were unopposed and therefore were re-appointed.
Historically, the school district does not hold an election in years when there are uncontested races to save the expense of holding an election.
