Belmont Administrator Penny Weaver Hired as Scotts Valley Superintendent

Penny Weaver, assistant superintendent for the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, has been selected as the superintendent for Scotts Valley Unified School District.

Penny Weaver, assistant superintendent at the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, has been hired on as the new superintendent of the Scotts Valley Unified School District and will be leaving her post in Belmont on July 18.

Weaver, who has served at her current job in Belmont since 2007, was a unanimous selection for the position and is excited to undertake her new role as superintendent.

“I’ve been a district level administrator for the last 11 years and in that time, I’ve been purposefully seeking experiences that would help me grow as a potential leader of a school district, and that would help me master all of the technical skill sets that I think are required to be a successful superintendent,” Weaver said.

“We’re going to miss her terribly,” Stulbarg added. “She’s a huge loss, but hopefully we’ll be able to find someone who can step in and take on what she’s taken on.”

Weaver, who credits a large portion of her success to the superintendents who served as her mentors, including former Livingston Union School District Superintendent Henry Escobar and current Belmont-Redwood Shores Superintendent Dr. Emerita Orta-Camilleri, commented that student and parent outreach will be of significant importance to her as superintendent.

“These are probably the most challenging times in education, and I am just compelled to step forward and offer what I have to help Scotts Valley Unified in meeting the goals they set, helping every student reach their potential and succeed,” Weaver said .

“Fortunately, with Scotts Valley, I’m moving into a community like Belmont-Redwood Shores with parents who are very engaged, staff who are very dedicated, and students that are just incredible,” she added.
