Will Hybrids Get Their HOV Stickers Back?

Sen. Leland Yee will hold a press conference Friday morning to discuss SB 286, which would allow low-emission vehicles to access the carpool lanes one again.

With the Tesla Motors showroom as as a backdrop Friday morning, Sen. Leland Yee (D-San Francisco/San Mateo), will discuss SB 286, a bill currently before the California Legislature that would extend until 2018 the green and white sticker program that allows the latest low-emission vehicles to access the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) highway lanes.

Yee, who will be joined by the bill's supporters, hopes the passage of SB 286 will help to encourage the purchases of low-emission vehicles, reducing California's carbon footprint and petroleum consumption, while benefiting the economy.

The press conference will be held Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Tesla Motors, 300 El Camino Real in Menlo Park.
