Trash Talk Comes to Belmont

Volunteer training will be held Wednesday to help spread the word on the new Recycle, Garbage and Compost collection services coming to Belmont in November.

Changes are coming to a curbside near you.

On Nov. 11, Belmont will join other San Mateo County cities already using RethinkWaste's new CartSMART services. But how many of your neighbors know about this?

The agency will host a volunteer training session at Belmont City Hall on Wednesday night to inform residents how to help spread the word on Belmont's new trash services.

The volunteers, or Green Team Block Leaders, will become neighborhood experts on how the CartSMART program will affect Belmont. In addition to training, volunteers will receive manuals, a tool kit and a messenger briefcase to help publicize the new trash services.

A few Belmont residents have already received the new CartSMART services based on their proximity to other cities already using the new carts, but the majority won't see them implemented until Nov. 11, according to Monica Devincenzi, a spokeswoman with Rethink Waste.
