Sewers and Slurry: It's a Busy Week for Belmont Public Works

The Public Works Department has two projects currently under construction.

In addition to the 2013 Rubber Chip Seal and Slurry Project going on along several Belmont streets prompting traffic advisories, the Belmont Public Works Dept. and a city contractor have begun work on the sewer main along Alameda de las Pulgas.

The project will consist of replacing the existing 8-inch sewer pipe with a new 12-inch pipe by constructing a 10 to 15 feet deep trench in the center of Alameda de las Pulgas right-of-way between Arbor Avenue and Sharon Avenue, and on Arbor Avenue at Alameda de las Pulgas.

Partial road closures will be in place along Alameda, as needed. "No Parking" signs will be placed in the affected parking areas to keep the area clear. During road closures emergency vehicles will be provided access as necessary

City officials remind motorists that caution should be used when traveling through the construction zone; following the temporary detour and no parking signs.

"The City of Belmont would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while work progresses on this important infrastructure project. Every provision will be taken to quickly and efficiently complete the work," says a statement on the city's website.
