Everything You Wanted to Know About Public Works

It's National Public Works Week, and the Belmont crew is offering some interesting events to give residents a unique glimpse into the world of city infrastructure.

 

The Belmont Public Works Department invites members of the community to take part in a week-long outreach program May 21-25 that will demonstrate how the department serves the community.

One of the highlight's will be an open house at the city's Corporation "Corp" Yard on Wednesday at On display will be various tools, equipment and vehicles used and maintained by the department. Visitors will see comparisons between new LED and existing high pressure sodium street lights as well as new LED traffic signals. Visitors will also have an opportunity to observe sewer line cleaning, video inspection and smoke testing demonstrations.

The city is also having an EcoTote give-away to the first 50 people that sign-up for the new pollution prevention awareness website “BE THE STREET”; a regional brand created by youth to raise awareness about the positive ramifications of keeping the community clean.
