Planning Commission to Discuss CSUS Application Tonight

A public hearing will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. to discuss the development of a private middle school on Davis Drive in Belmont.

 

The to construct a middle school on the property at 6-8 and 10 Davis Drive in Belmont will be heard Tuesday at the regular meeting of the Belmont Planning Commission.

The purpose of the hearing is for the commission to consider a , general plan amendment, planned development rezoning (from Executive Office and Warehouse to Institutional), and a conceptual development plan for construction of an approximately 60,000- square foot private middle school for up to 240 students.

The would take over the site of a and warehouse owned by Cengage, and would consist of three buildings and a synthetic turf soccer field.

School officials delivered the development agreement to the city on June 11. The agreement addresses concerns related to development.

Residents in adjacent neighborhoods to the proposed school site have over traffic and noise, while others are supportive of the CSUS move.

One aspect of the agreement states that the school will make annual cash payments of $75,000 to the City, as an accommodation for the school's tax-exempt status as a non-profit.

A between CSUS officials and members of the Belmont community took place on June 13 in the warehouse on the proposed site of the new campus.

The Belmont Planning Commission will meet Tuesday, June 19 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Belmont City Hall, One Twin Pines Lane.
