Planning Commission Could Recommend Amended Sign Ordinance to City Council

The Planning Commission at its Tuesday meeting could opt to send the amended Sign Ordinance to the City Council for review.

The Planning Commission at Tuesday's meeting will review and discuss the city's amended Sign Ordinance that among a number of changes would add a section regarding signs on public property.

Community Development Manager Carlos de Melo said the proposed ordinance is a "comprehensive amendment" to the current Sign Ordinance -- Section 23 of the Belmont Zoning Ordinance -- and adds a section pertaining to signs on public property such as sidewalks.

Section 23A, Sign Standards for Public Property, is being introduced to the ordinance for the first time to establish regulations for people placing signs on the public right-of-way.
