Let Election Season Begin: Belmont Chamber to Host Candidate Forum

The forums will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.


The Belmont Chamber of Commerce, Belmont Library and the League of Women Voters will host two Belmont City Council candidate forums prior to the November 5 general election.

The forums, which will take place in the Taube Room of the Belmont Library, will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Oct. 24.

There are six candidates vying for three seats on the Belmont City Council--each for a four-year term. The candidates are:

  •  Gladwyn D'Souza 
  •  Kristin Mercer 
  •  Charles Stone 
  •  Warren Lieberman (incumbent)
  •  Eric Reed 
  •  Mike C. Verdone 
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan citizen organization that educates voters, studies and acts on important issues, trains members for leadership roles, and provides information on candidates.

Chamber officials say the Council Candidate Forum is being moderated by the League of Women Voters to assure the highest degree of impartiality  This event is open to the public and seating is first come, first seated. 

The Belmont Library is located at 1110 Alameda de las Pulgas.
