It Takes a Village to Form a Commission

There are three vacancies on important Belmont commissioners....are you up to the task?

The City of Belmont is looking for a few "can do" residents to fill commission vacancies. Commissioners are volunteers who meet once or twice a month and make recommendations to city staff and council. Currently, Belmont residents are being sought to fill spots on three commissions: Planning, Finance and a youth member for Parks & Recreation.

Here's the scoop on each commission's responsibilities:

Planning Commission

There is one vacancy on the Planning Commission for a term ending in March of 2015. The Planning Commission meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. The Commission reviews and takes action on planning applications, and makes recommendations to the City Council on zoning and land use issues.

Parks & Recreation Commission (Youth member)

There is one opening for Youth seats on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The City Council will consider applications from Belmont residents who are between the ages of 13 and 17 years old. Parent/Guardian consent is mandatory. There are several months remaining on this vacant seat (expires March of 2014). Youth members are full voting members of the Commission.
