Belmont's reusable bag ordinance took effect on Monday. The city will be handing out free bags today from 12-1 p.m. at Safeway on El Camino Real.

The City of Belmont will be handing out free reusable bags at Safeway on Ralston Avenue and El Camino Real from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday while supplies last.

Belmont shoppers now need to provide their own reusable bags, or pay a 10-cents per bag at the retailer.
