The City has spent time working with the developer, behind closed doors it would seem, yet inputRead More from the public was an afterthought due to MANY families showing up at a May 6 City Council Meeting (not on the Agenda, yet rink to close June 1 !) So many kids spoke so sincerely and eloquently how the closure would hurt them and their friends. Does San Mateo City Hall care about the residents of our community? Especially the children. City Hall has the upper hand (the Master Plan agreement), we expect them to step up. Why has City Hall allowed SPI to make the children of our community suffer so much agony and pain over this process? Shame on City Hall for letting this drag out !!

Eileen, you are heartily invited to visit the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City. WeRead More are a welcoming, caring group of about 177 people who find music, laughter, social, intellectual and social action pursuits to be eminently spiritual. Our services are at 10:30 a.m. Sundays at 2124 Brewster St. Best work advice at this time is to keep checking Craig's List, the Peninsula section, under both Etc. and part-time jobs.

Ah yes the computer algorithm at work again. It is the beautifully designed product of our schoolRead More board to take the blame instead of them for these issues. Our Mcdougal nieborhood which is closer to three Belmont schools (Fox, Cipriani , & Central ) was sent to Nesbit as well. The program that was to take agendas out  and put the child in the closest possible school. This algorithm  program is exactly what it's called. A program that has been designed by the district to do what it wants while leaving them plausible deniel for its results. They want to bring up there test scores at Nesbit so they are going to ship kids in from higher scoring schools to do it by hook or by crook. Redwoodshores I am sorry it is happening to you. We were sneak attacked by this last year, even though our nieborhood was never discussed in all prevouse meetings. Belmont school district don't knock on my door for more tax dollars you have an agenda I don't agree with. Breaking up neighborhoods to raise test scores is not right to Belmont families.

This is a civil discourse and I don't understand why anyone would feel compelled to name calling.Read More Bottom line, we all want what's best for our children. The board of trustees have consistently poor communication with the RWS community and inquiries with the district gave false reassurances that there is no enrollment problem, that RWS children would go to one of those two schools. FYI, over enrollment already occurred last year and the district should have been upfront about that so RWS parents have the option of looking into alternatives or be fine with Nesbit. As for taxes, RWS is 1/3 the size of Belmont while contributing nearly 50% in tax revenue that funds the district's operation. Further, it's RWS and Belmont Shores tax dollars that went to funding RWSE, not the rest of the district. Then there's the issue of the district's decision this year to send 15 Tinsley transfer kids to RWS schools when there's already over demand from RWS residents while Nesbit has extra capacity. There was no logic in that assignment. It also boils down to equitability. There need to be a long term strategic plan to address the massive waves of children entering school over the next decade. Yes, every school is bursting at the seams so we're going to have to build up!

Also, before at sandpiper, the school worked out a deal with the community center next door to useRead More one of their rooms for a year to accommodate a need for an extra science classroom. Why can't this option be explored? It seems to me the need of keeping the neighborhood school together and giving these taxpayers the school they should be entitled to attend would outweigh the inconvenience.

Seems like there is something wrong with this picture - two dogs being way too polite. The focus ofRead More their attention should be on those bones and the bones should be in less than pristine condition!
