Election Update: Latest Count Has Wozniak on Top by 12 Votes

The San Mateo County elections office released its latest counts this afternoon.

If the counts remain steady, Christine Wozniak will maintain her seat on Belmont City Council by one of the s.

As of today's count released by the San Mateo County elections office and reported on its website, www.shapethefuture.org, W 1,936 votes to 1,924--just 12 votes separate the two.

In last week's election, , an incumbent city councilmember, easily won one of the two open seats. The vote count was too close to declare a winner by last Tuesdsay evening for the second seat.

Wozniak, the incumbent, had been in the lead at every count, but never by more than 15 votes. The latest count takes into account vote-by-mail ballots and paper ballots that were cast at polling places on Election Day.

The next official count will be released Thursday at 4:30. The county has 28 days from Election Day, November 8,  to certify the results.
