Deadline Extended to Apply for Finance Commission

The new deadline is 5 p.m. on April 29.

Belmont residents have until the end of April to apply for the one remaining open spot on the city's Finance Commission.

The City Council at its March 8 meeting to fill the vacant seats on the Parks and Recreation Commission and Planning Commission. The sole applicant for the Finance Commission was appointed to fill one of the two open spots.

The Finance Commission meets bimonthly at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month, though the commission occasionally holds special or additional meetings on an as-needed basis.

Commissioners participate in the budget review process and conduct an annual review of the city's investment policy, as well as evaluate proposals, programs and contracts at the request of the City Council.

Finance commissioners serve three-year terms. Candidates with a finance background and experience are especially encouraged to apply.

To apply for the remaining seat on the Finance Commission, visit www.belmont.gov and select "City Council and Commissions," call (650) 595-7413, or visit the City Clerk's office in City Hall, located at 1 Twin Pines Lane.
