Firehouse Square Community Workshop to be Held Wednesday

The workshop will include a walking tour of the site, and attendees will have an opportunity to give their input on land use and project design.

The public is invited to attend the first of three community workshops on Dec. 18 to discuss plans for the Firehouse Square site, located on at Fifth and O'Neill in the heart of Belmont’s Village Center District. The workshop will be led by Sares-Regis, the real estate company partnering with the City of Belmont on the site development.

The workshop will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1300 Fifth Ave., Belmont.

Under the terms of the City’s Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA), the workshop will focus on the opportunities/constraints of the project site and allow for the project developer to meet with merchants, neighbors, and other interested parties.

Organizers say additional meetings will be scheduled in the evening but since this meeting includes a visit to the site it needed to occur during the day.

The workshop will include a walking tour of the site, and attendees will have an opportunity to give their input on land use and project design.

"We will consider all comments in making plans for the site. We will be conducting three workshops, with this first one designed as a daylight-hours walking tour, so everyone can clearly view site features and constraints and Belmont merchants can attend," said Jeff Smith, vice president of Sares Regis Group.
