City Council Approves Amended Sign Ordinance

The council voted at Tuesday night's meeting to pass the ordinance after making a few minor changes.

The Belmont City Council unanimously approved an amended sign ordinance Tuesday night after making a few minor adjustments to the version by the Planning Commission in December.

The document spells out the way signs are to be displayed within the boundaries of Belmont. Restrictions and exemptions pertaining to signs including those that are illuminated, for retail or private purposes, banner announcements and a variety of others are addressed in it.

The council clarified the definition of "animation" and the language of "changeable copy" on page 2 of the ordinance, as well as added a line between items C and D in section 23.05.02 that reads "In all cases, the following requirements must be met."
