Christine Wozniak Declared Winner in City Council Race
County elections officials released the latest counts at 4:30 Thursday; Wozniak defeats Eric Reed by 11 votes.
Although the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors must formally certify the results, election officials today called the election for Belmont City Council for Christine Wozniak.
According to Shape the Future, the official election website of San Mateo County, the incumbent Wozniak finished with 25.22 percent of the vote, or 1,971 votes. Challenger Eric Reed finished with 25.08 percent, or 1,960 votes---just 11 votes behind Wozniak.
Since Election Day, November 8, the county has been counting vote-by-mail and paper ballots that were filled in at the polls. The counts released on Tuesday took into account all of those ballots. All that remained were about 2,000 provisional ballots countywide, thus county officials were able to call the election for Wozniak.
