Belmont Traffic Advisory: Find Out if You'll be Slurried Today

This interactive map will let Belmont residents know whether or not their streets will be impacted by this week's slurry seal project.

Belmont residents will experience some road closures and detours starting today as the city starts phase two of the 2013 Rubber Chip Seal and Slurry Seal Project.

Starting Monday, Belmont Public Works crews and the project contractor will be applying asphalt slurry over the recent rubberized chip seal application completed last week.

According to the Public Works Department, to facilitate the pavement application and to ensure safety of the construction crews and the public, the contractor will block access to the area. There will be no through traffic during this operation, and for four hours after the slurry seal is applied on the road. Residents and commuters in the general vicinity of the work area should anticipate delays, and include additional time to their daily commute or to avoid the area if possible.

This project will most likely affect residents and those traveling through the immediate project areas as follows:

City officials caution drivers and pedestrians when going through constructions zones, and to follow the temporary detour and no parking signs.

"The city would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while work progresses on this important infrastructure project. Every provision will be taken to quickly and efficiently complete the work," read a statement issued by the Belmont Public Works Dept.
