A Light at the End of Tunnel at O'Neill & Sixth?
The city expects the roadway reconstruction project to wrap up by the end of the month.
Sidewalk forms and gutters are in place and some of the base rock has been laid, giving the the look of a mission on the verge of completion.
According to a weekly newsletter published by the Belmont Public Works Department, this week’s work will include excavation and placement of base rock on O’Neill Avenue and final grading in preparation for the asphalt roadway surface.
The project experienced delays associated with the relocation of shallow utilities.

Delays in the project, which started in July, have caused about the safety of utility lines, disruption to trash pick-up, limitations to parking and pedestrian access and the overall noise, dust, mud and inconvenience cased by the prolonged street closure. Some residents have had to delay their own home and yard improvement projects due to the limited access to their property.
The area will remain closed to through traffic to reduce the amount of mud/dust created by vehicles traveling through the area.

Barring any unforseen circumstances, the city expects the road reconstruction portion of the project to be completed by the end of the month.
The scope of the project includes reconstructing the road and adding new sidewalks along with drainage improvements, a street light upgrade and extensive landscaping. In addition, Sixth Ave. will be realigned and narrowed to slow down traffic through the area.
