Woman Survives Being Struck by Caltrain

A woman struck by Caltrain at the Main Street crossing in Redwood City just before noon appears to have survived and was taken to a hospital.

A woman who was struck by a Caltrain at the Main Street crossing just before noon Friday appears to have survived the accident, and has been taken to the hospital.

The woman was struck at 11:51 a.m. by northbound train No. 143 at Main Street. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital, Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.

An update on her condition was not immediately available.

The train, which is carrying 245 passengers, stopped at the scene, Dunn said. The accident has also prompted southbound train No. 142 to stop at Caltrain's Redwood City station, according to Dunn.
