The driver, a 26 year old Belmont man, apparently stopped for the stop sign on Ruth Avenue, but failed to see the pedestrian, who stepped off the curb shortly before the driver began his turn.
The Belmont Police Department reminds motorists to be alert for pedestrians and bicyclists, and not to assume drivers see you. In this case, the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and thought the driver saw her. If possible wear light colored clothing and/or carry a flashlight when walking during darkness.
